When purchased my first iPhone several years ago, I suddenly found another creative outlet for my photography ideas. Photography on the iPhone — iphonography — has pushed the limits of digital photography to new levels of creative expression. Images that could only be created in a darkroom can now be created on the iPhone with the right apps in a matter of minutes. Yes there are problems: image quality in certain lighting situations is poor, depth of field is lacking, the inability to shoot in RAW format, and “easy to use” software from Apple that completely hamstrings photographers are all shortcomings that come to mind. However, overall image quality is good, and there is some very good 3rd party software available.
